This is a good question. Let me provide more details. We published the first VW LED emblem that is compatible with ACC/radar for emergency braking on April 4, 2024. So, when I install the VW LED emblem, do I need to recalibrate the ACC/radar?

First, if your car is a Golf MK8, most cars have two LED bars. When you install the LED emblem, you can connect the wire to the LED bar. You can check this article to know how to install it. It means you can remove your original emblem and replace it with our 3rd generation VW LED emblem. You don’t need to remove the ACC/radar. So, no need to recalibrate the ACC/radar anymore.

Second, some cars need to remove the Radar/ACC to thread the wire, and then they can install the VW LED emblem. It means you need to remove the Radar/ACC. For this condition, you need to use a meter detection to ensure horizontal installation, same angle as before. This is a small recalibration for the ACC/radar.

Why is the 3rd generation Dynamic VW LED emblem compatible with ACC/radar for emergency braking?

Compared to the original emblem, why does our 3rd generation Dynamic VW light up emblem that is compatible with ACC/radar for emergency braking? The most important aspect is the thickness of the emblem. Unlike the older LED emblem, which had a size of up to 17-20mm, the radar signal cannot pass through the LED emblem, resulting in an error. However, we have reduced the thickness to 7mm and changed the position of the lamp beads. As a result, the radar/signal can pass through the LED emblem. The two biggest changes are the thickness of the LED emblem and the position of the lamp beads.
